FAQ: Can I configure and monitor eXchange POP3 remotely?


Yes. Please follow these steps:

Step 1

eXchange POP3 will not allow remote connections unless you set a user id and password. To do so, from the main menu select:

File Administration Settings



Step 2

From the section view select:

eXchange POP3 Monitoring Alerts



The line for category Admin indicates which port eXchange POP3 is listening on for connections from the administration program. Make note of this port number (in this example the port number is 4005).

Step 3

On the remote computer create a folder (eg. C:\RemoteAdmin).

From the eXchange POP3 installation folder copy KADMIN.EXE, KX.INI and the folder HELP (including all its files and subfolders) to the remote computer's new folder (eg. C:\RemoteAdmin).

Step 4

From the remote computer run KADMIN.EXE.

The following dialog will appear.



IP address...Enter the TCP name or IP address of the computer running eXchange POP3.
Administration portEnter the port number noted earlier in Step 2.

Click the Connect button and the following dialog will appear:

UserEnter user id you set in Step 1.
PasswordEnter password you set in Step 1

Click the Login button.
